Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 15, 2025
At velquastoria, we respect your privacy. This isn't just a statement we throw around—it's something we genuinely care about. When you share information with us, you're trusting us to handle it properly, and that's not something we take lightly.
This policy explains what data we collect, why we need it, how we use it, and what rights you have. We've tried to make it as straightforward as possible because nobody enjoys reading pages of legal jargon. If something isn't clear, reach out to us directly.
Information We Collect
We collect different types of information depending on how you interact with our platform. Some of it you give us directly, and some we gather automatically as you use our services.
Information You Provide
When you register for our programs, contact us, or use specific features, you might share:
- Personal details like your name, email address, and phone number
- Business information if you're seeking entrepreneurial training
- Payment details when enrolling in courses (though we don't store complete card numbers ourselves)
- Communication preferences and feedback you submit through forms or emails
- Educational background and professional experience when relevant to program selection
Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit our website or use our services, certain technical information gets collected automatically:
- Device information including browser type, operating system, and screen resolution
- IP address and general location data (we're talking city-level, not your exact address)
- Pages you visit, how long you stay, and what you click on
- Referral sources—basically, how you found us
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies that help the site function properly
How We Use Your Information
We're not in the business of hoarding data for no reason. Everything we collect serves a specific purpose related to providing and improving our educational services.
Service Delivery
We use your information to deliver the courses and programs you've enrolled in, communicate important updates about your learning journey, and provide technical support when you need it.
Platform Improvement
Your usage patterns help us understand what's working and what isn't. We analyse this data to make the learning experience better, fix technical issues, and develop new features that actually matter to our users.
Communication
We'll send you course-related emails, program updates, and occasionally information about new offerings that might interest you. You can opt out of the promotional stuff anytime—we won't take it personally.
Legal Compliance
Sometimes we need to process data to comply with Australian privacy laws, respond to legal requests, or protect our rights and the safety of our community.
Australian Privacy Principles Compliance
As an Australian business, we follow the Privacy Act 1988 and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles. This means we're bound by specific rules about how we handle personal information.
We're committed to open and transparent management of personal information. You have the right to know what we're doing with your data, and we're required to have proper systems in place to ensure we handle it responsibly.
If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). But honestly, we'd prefer you come to us first so we can sort it out directly.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We don't sell your personal information. Let's just get that out of the way upfront. However, we do share data with specific third parties who help us run our business:
- Payment processors handle transactions securely when you enrol in programs. They're bound by strict financial regulations and security standards.
- Email service providers help us send course updates and communications. They only have access to the information necessary to deliver messages.
- Analytics tools help us understand how people use our website, but the data is aggregated and anonymised wherever possible.
- Cloud hosting services store our data securely with industry-standard encryption and security measures.
- Learning management system providers support our course delivery infrastructure.
All these partners are carefully selected and contractually required to protect your information. They can't use your data for their own purposes or share it with others.
Your Rights and Choices
Your data belongs to you. We're just looking after it. That means you have several important rights:
Access and Correction
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it. We'll respond to access requests within 30 days, though complex requests might take a bit longer.
Deletion Requests
Want us to delete your data? In most cases, we can do that. There are a few exceptions—like if we're legally required to keep certain records for tax purposes or if there's an ongoing dispute. But generally speaking, if you want your information gone, we'll remove it.
Marketing Communications
Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're done. You'll stop receiving marketing messages, though we'll still send essential communications about programs you're enrolled in.
Cookie Management
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can block or delete cookies, though this might affect how well the site works for you. Some features rely on cookies to function properly.
How to Exercise Your Rights:
Send an email to support@velquastoria.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. Tell us what you want—access, correction, deletion, or something else. We'll verify your identity (to make sure we're not giving your information to someone else) and then process your request.
Data Security
We take security seriously because your trust depends on it. Our approach includes:
- Industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Access controls that limit who can view personal information
- Employee training on data protection and privacy practices
- Incident response procedures in case something goes wrong
That said, no system is 100% secure. We do everything reasonably possible to protect your information, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If you notice anything suspicious or think your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Data Retention
We don't keep your information forever. Here's roughly how long we retain different types of data:
Account Information
Kept while your account is active, plus up to 7 years after closure for legal and financial record-keeping requirements under Australian law.
Course Progress and Completion Data
Maintained for 7 years to provide transcripts and certificates when needed, and to comply with educational record-keeping standards.
Marketing Data
Removed within 60 days of unsubscribing unless you've also engaged with our courses, in which case it's retained with your account information.
Website Analytics
Aggregated and anonymised data kept for 26 months to analyse long-term trends and platform performance.
When data reaches the end of its retention period, we securely delete or anonymise it so it can't be traced back to you.
Children's Privacy
Our services are designed for adults developing entrepreneurial skills. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 without parental consent. If you're under 18 and interested in our programs, have a parent or guardian contact us to discuss appropriate options.
If we discover we've accidentally collected data from a minor without proper consent, we'll delete it promptly.
International Data Transfers
Your information is primarily stored and processed in Australia. Some of our service providers have servers in other countries, which means your data might occasionally be transferred overseas.
When this happens, we ensure those providers meet Australian privacy standards through contractual obligations and security requirements. We only work with companies in countries with adequate privacy protections or that agree to uphold equivalent standards.
Changes to This Policy
Privacy laws and our business practices evolve. When we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated effective date. For significant changes, we'll send an email notification to registered users.
We recommend checking this page occasionally, especially if you're concerned about how your information is handled. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the updated terms.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Like most websites, we use cookies. These are small files stored on your device that help the site remember your preferences and analyse how people use our platform.
Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential cookies keep the site functioning—things like remembering you're logged in and maintaining security.
- Preference cookies remember your settings and choices to make your experience more personalised.
- Analytics cookies help us understand visitor behaviour so we can improve the platform.
- Marketing cookies track which of our ads brought you here and help us measure campaign effectiveness.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Blocking cookies might make some features less convenient, but core functionality will still work.
